Google Drive

June finds and reads your Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs and their comments, saves what it writes to your Drive, and changes the files it created when you approve. It never edits files it did not create.

Connect Google Drive and June can find and read your Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs and text files, read the comments people left on them, and put the documents it writes for you into your Drive, with a link in the chat.

On the Integrations page, choose Connect on the Google Drive row.
Sign in with your Google account and allow both: reading your files, and creating files of June's own.
Paste a Drive link into the chat, or ask June to look something up.
Read the Q3 plan doc I just linked and list the open decisions.
Find the board deck from last month in my Drive and summarize the numbers.
Open the budget sheet and tell me which lines on the Travel tab are over plan.
What did people comment on my proposal doc, and which comments are still open?
Write a one-page brief for the new client and save it to my Drive.
Rename the brief you saved to "Acme brief (final)" and add a comment asking Anna to review it.

What June can do

  • Search your Drive by name or by what a file says, and narrow the search to a type (Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, folders), an owner, files shared with you, or a date range.
  • Read the files it finds or that you link: Google Docs, Google Slides, PDFs and plain-text files. It can also look at images.
  • Read a Google Sheet one tab at a time, as the values show in the sheet: it sees every tab's name and size, reads up to 1,000 rows and 52 columns of one range per step (200 rows unless it asks for more) and goes on from where it stopped, further columns included. Formulas come back as their results.
  • Read the comments on a file with their replies, who wrote them, the passage they point at, and whether they are resolved.
  • Save the documents it wrote into your Drive, up to ten files at a time and 20 MB each, in a folder named June unless you name another. The files are yours like any other.
  • Update a file it created earlier, when you ask for a new version.
  • Read shared drives, a file's revisions, who a file is shared with, replies to comments, what changed lately, and how a Doc, Sheet or Slides deck is laid out (headings, tabs, slides) straight from Google, read-only.
  • Change a file it created, straight in Google: rename, move, star, trash or restore it, comment on it or reply to a comment, clear part of a sheet, or take away someone's access. It can also create a folder or an empty Doc, Sheet or Slides deck. In a chat on the web or in the app, June shows you a card first with what the change does, the exact request and everything it sends, and makes the change only when you approve it; every change asks, with no exception. The card also names the folder a file moves into, whose access a removal takes away, and anyone a comment emails because it mentions them (+name@example.com). Elsewhere (Slack, a schedule) June says what it would change instead (how approval works).

More than one Google account

One connection is one Google account. To add a second, open Google Drive from the Integrations page and connect again under a short name of your own, such as work. Tell June which one to use when it matters, by that name or by the account's email address.

If you allowed only reading or only writing when you connected, the Google Drive page asks you to re-authorize that connection; do so and allow both.

What June does not do

  • It never edits, renames or deletes a file it did not create, and it never writes into a Google Sheet or Doc of yours, or comments on one.
  • It never shares a file or changes who can open it, never moves or creates a file in a folder other people can open or in a shared drive, never changes whether people can copy or download a file, never copies a file, and never deletes anything for good: a file it trashes stays in your Drive's trash.
  • It cannot open other file types, such as videos or archives, and says so instead of guessing at what is inside.
  • A sheet's charts, formatting and cell notes stay out of what it reads; a chart sheet is listed among the tabs but has no cells to read.

Removing June from your Google account's third-party access also ends Gmail and Search Console; to stop only Drive, disconnect it on the Integrations page.
